New Engineering Order

One consortium.
Every domain.

NEO is a UK engineering consortium built to deliver platform integration for defence primes and the Ministry of Defence — design, installation, certification and test, under one accountable partner.

Domain 01

Land

Full C4 integration on armoured and support platforms — command, control, communications and computers fitted, tested and certified to UK defence standards.

  • ID&C Installation design, review and certification to JSP 604 Leaflet 4850
  • Fit Prototype through First of Type to production installation teams
  • Test Def Stan 59-411, TEMPEST SDIP-27 and JSP 392 radiation hazard
Capability detail

Domain 02

Air

Airworthiness-minded electrical and communications integration — harness design, electromagnetic compatibility and the documentation trail to prove it.

  • Harness Complex defence cable assemblies built to exact specification
  • EMC Mutual interference and susceptibility assessment
  • Evidence Verification, validation and acceptance test capability
Capability detail

Domain 04

Space

Ground segment and space-enabled communications integration — bringing resilient PNT and satellite connectivity down onto the platform where it has to work.

  • Ground Terminal and antenna installation design on mobile platforms
  • RF Radiation hazard, interference and antenna pattern range testing
  • Integrate Open interfaces into the wider platform compute architecture

Architecture

VIPA

Virtual Infrastructure Platform Architecture

An open compute, network and power architecture for armoured platforms. NEO supplies the infrastructure — servers, Ethernet switching, fibre and power — and publishes the interfaces, so any third party can connect their equipment to it.

Integration in UK defence is measured in weeks and months. VIPA is built to be measured in hours.

With VIPA 2 hours

end to end

Connect the vehicles. Build the plan once, centrally. Push it to every platform at once.

01

Open by publication

The cabling, connector and interface specifications are published, not licensed. A supplier builds to them and connects — without negotiating access or redesigning the vehicle around their box.

02

Base network

Servers, Ethernet switching and fibre fitted as vehicle infrastructure — one network carrying every system on the platform, rather than a separate harness for each.

03

Open power and connection plates

A central plate where third-party equipment takes power and network together. Plug into the platform rather than cut into it.

An armoured platform carrying the VIPA infrastructure

04

Compute pooled across vehicles

Connect platforms to one another and their processing pools with them. A task can draw on the capacity of the whole group, not only the vehicle it started on.

05

Mission data in hours, not weeks

Battle plans and C4I data — including radio configuration and frequency plans — built centrally and pushed to every connected platform in one operation.

06

Any armoured platform

Designed, integrated and certified onto the British Army fleet — and onto armoured vehicles anywhere else.

One architecture, three specialisms

01

Architecture & software

The VIPA architecture itself — the service model, resource management, and the software that maps requested capability onto the hardware a given platform has.

  • Service model
  • Resource management
  • Capability allocation

02

Open cable & power architecture

The physical layer — harness and power design, the connection plates, and the published interface specifications third parties build against.

  • Harness design
  • Power architecture
  • Connection plates
  • Published interfaces

03

Installation design & certification

Getting it onto the platform and through ID&C — design review, first of type, EMC and TEMPEST, and the evidence trail the customer requires.

  • ID&C
  • First of type
  • EMC & TEMPEST
  • Verification & validation
